VGPM 1.74 Update: Online Invoice Payments & Smarter Goal Data

VGPM 1.74 adds online invoice payments to ABA billing software (Pay Now email, no-login checkout) plus smarter ABA duration goal tracking.

VGPM 1.74 protects your cash flow and your clinical signal at the same time. This release introduces an end-to-end online invoice payment flow (a Pay Now button in the invoice email and a no-login payment page) plus a couple of refinements to duration goal tracking. It rolls up several releases of work, so the changes are a little heavier than usual.

Online Invoice Payments, Start to Finish

Patient responsibility keeps climbing as deductibles rise, which means independent practices now collect a meaningful share of revenue directly from families instead of from payers. Until now, online payment in VGPM started inside the patient portal, which meant guardians had to log in before they could pay. VGPM 1.74 takes the friction out of that path.

Activated invoices now go out as a branded email with a Pay Now button. One tap takes the guardian to a public payment page (no login, no password reset, no remembering credentials), where they confirm the amount and complete Stripe Checkout. Payment is recorded automatically as type External, the outstanding balance updates in real time, and claim reconciliation runs in the background for invoices linked to claims. Your billing staff does nothing. For the practice, this is the kind of revenue-protection improvement that defines ABA billing software built for independent operators.

What's Included

  • A Pay Now button inside every activated invoice email
  • A public, no-login Public Invoice Payment Page where guardians complete checkout
  • Guardian invoice notification preferences, including a one-click unsubscribe for families who prefer not to receive emails
  • A cleaner public invoice payment backend that records payments, runs claim reconciliation, and keeps the audit trail intact

Why This Matters

Online payment volume rises sharply when you remove the login step. Families pay on the device they were already using to read the email, in the moment they see the bill, before the invoice fades into the rest of their inbox. For the practice, that means faster collections, fewer follow-up calls, and lower aging on patient AR. Cash flow is clinical stability: when invoices are easy to pay, clinical work stays funded.

For the billing director who has been working past-due lists by hand, the Pay Now flow means more of those balances clear themselves before a phone call is even needed.

How to Enable

  1. Confirm Stripe is configured as an active payment service in company settings (already required for online payments in 1.69+).
  2. Activate invoices on your normal cadence. The Pay Now button appears in the email automatically.

If your practice wants outside expertise managing the full revenue cycle alongside VGPM, our RCM billing services team operates inside the same workflows your staff uses.

Duration Goals Now Chart in Minutes

Duration goals (independent play, on-task time, tolerance windows) now chart in minutes instead of seconds. Long-duration behaviors are readable on the progress graph at a glance, and renewal packets are easier for a payer reviewer to scan. Data entry is unchanged. See ABA data collection in VGPM.

Choose Accumulate or Average for Duration Goals

Every duration goal can now pick how it aggregates multiple entries within a session: accumulate (sum the entries to show total time engaged) or average (show typical bout length). Same data, two clinically distinct stories, configured per goal during goal creation or from the Program Book.
